Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees of the Rumson Country Day School assumes the fiduciary responsibility for ensuring that the school's mission is being carried out today; that a roadmap is in place for the future; and that the institution remains financially strong for generations to come.
We, in partnership with Headmaster Small, provide leadership and a framework within which our superb faculty members bring that mission to life every day as they teach and coach our students in academic disciplines and extracurricular undertakings.
The Board of Trustees currently operates with the 2009-2011 Strategic Plan as a guide, and Vision 2015 as our compass forward. Presently, construction of the new Academic Enrichment Center is underway, which includes a library, three science laboratories, arts and crafts studios and a technology center, all enabling our staff to deliver on our educational promise. This major project, funded by the "Celebrate Tradition, Embrace Our Future" campaign, will be completed in time for fall 2010 school opening.
The Rumson Country Day School seal includes the Latin phrase, "Vitae Disce" translated "Learn for life." We hope our students are inspired to become life-long learners able to thrive, contribute, and excel in a demanding secondary school environment and in tomorrow's society. Throughout our 13-acre campus, you will also see the words "Kind, Honest, Responsible and Respectful" prominently displayed. In addition to the academic elements an RCDS education provides, we aim to nourish in each of our students, individual and social responsibility, civic awareness and leadership skills consistent with these principles.
Almost 85 years ago, the founders of our school visualized an academic institution, which would play a critical role in the development of young people over a long period of time. It is our duty to continue to deliver on that vision, both today and in the future. We are honored to serve as Trustees of the Rumson Country Day School, and are committed to our school's mission.
