DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
The Rumson Country Day School is seeking a new Director of Development for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year. The position reports to the Head of School and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- To devise and manage a program designed to attract the maximum gift support possible to the institution. This program will include annual fund solicitation; planned giving programs; corporate and foundation proposals; and planning for major capital gifts.
- To help develop and coordinate all aspects of the major gifts campaign. This includes following up on existing pledges from our capital campaign.
- To keep the Head of School and Development Committee informed on a weekly basis of the fund-raising activities of this office.
- To develop a plan to increase alumni and parental support of, and involvement in, the institution.
- To develop a complete program of research into and an action plan of solicitation of the school's key prospects.
- To interact with the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees, the Parents' Association and the Alumni Association.
- To oversee processing of all gift income for the purpose of providing receipts and the maintaining of giving records of donors to the school.
- To develop and lead a professional and volunteer staff to carry out the activities of this office.
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
- To support the school and its leadership.

Horizons Student Enrichment Program:
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE HORIZONS
STUDENT ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
Horizons
at Rumson Country Day School is a not for profit, summer student enrichment program
that provides low income Monmouth County School children with a unique
combination of academic, social, cultural, wellness, and recreational learning
experiences that are designed to support their success in school and in life.
Guided by a whole child approach, Horizons combines a focus on academics with
experiences that build problem-solving skills, foster an awareness of community
responsibility and encourage a life-long interest in learning. The program has
been in operation since 1996 at Rumson Country Day School and we serve over 100
children in Grades K-8 each summer.
Position Overview:
Horizons
at The Rumson Country Day School is seeking a motivated and dynamic Executive
Director to lead all aspects of organizational and educational activities for
this vibrant and meaningful program.
This is a
full time position
requiring a minimum of 24 hours weekly (M-TH 9AM-3PM) to be worked on site at
the Rumson Country Day School. Remaining hours (for a total of 30) may be
worked from home. Occasional attendance at evening events and meetings is also
required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of
a Bachelor’s Degree
- Ability to organize and lead all program
and administrative elements, serving as chief representative and driving force
of the six-week summer program, year round activities and fund raising events
- A minimum
of 7 years work experience in a not-for-profit and/or educational organization
with at least 2 years in a leadership role with responsibility for multiple
functional areas (e.g. educational curriculum, staff recruitment and
development, finances, marketing, fundraising etc.)
- Self
starter with proven ability to work both independently and with different
constituencies
- Excellent
communication skills – verbal and written
- Helpful to
be conversant in Spanish – not required

Advisors of the HORIZONS Student Enrichment Program at the Rumson Country Day
School
Key
Responsibilities:
- Develop
and implement a successful fundraising program to achieve Horizons annual
program budget of approximately $200,000 to $250,000. Program components may
include: special events, grant writing, targeted and general donor solicitation.
- Oversee
the management and administration of the program.
- Develop
and update job descriptions for all key personnel.
- Manage all
hiring of and daily responsibilities for summer staff.
- Hold
annual training programs for staff working in the program.
- Develop
all marketing and communication materials.
- Recruit
the programs’ new students from local area schools.
- Oversee
and develop the program’s curriculum in conjunction with the teaching staff.
- Act as the
primary contact with the National HORIZONS Executive Director. Responsibilities
include compiling all required reports, attending the annual Executive
Director’s meeting and managing all communications with National and
Affiliates.
- Report to
and participate in all HORIZONS Board meetings and designated Rumson Country
Day School Board of Trustee meetings.
- Plan and
execute a Winter Program designed to keep students connected to the program
throughout the academic year.
